Lesson of Easter

June 13th, 2008 by misakomatsumoto

By Wesley Doherty Christians and non-Christians alike can benefit from the lesson of Easter. When Jesus rose from the dead, He proved His teachings were practical; the proof of the pudding, so to speak. This is why Easter is the most important holiday in the Christian religion: It is the recognition and
celebration of the Christian Messiah overcoming all the “obstacles” to Truth. The resurrection was the culminating act of an incredible life. Easter is the symbol of resurrection and rebirth. Rebirth is an important motif in many religions and spiritualities. The
snake is revered in many religions because of its ability to shed its skin and be reborn bigger and better. For centuries
before Jesus birth, the moon was revered in pagan religions for the same reason: every new moon is a symbol of rebirth.
Even the timing of Easter on the modern calendar is meaningful; it was chosen because it coincides with the beginning of
spring, when nature rises from the death of winter with new growth and new beginnings. In being crucified, Jesus was anything but unique. Vast numbers of people were crucified in Roman times. The Roman Empire used public crucifixion as a form of crime prevention: to see someone crucified would give anyone second thoughts to “cross” the empire and commit a crime against it. Crucifixes were almost as plentiful then as road signs are today. The thing that made Jesus unique was that he was resurrected afterwards. After all, a slain Jesus would not be considered much of a Christ as he would be proven the same as all the others crucified along the Roman thoroughfares: just a man who should bow to the Roman Empire ahead of all gods. One of the most important themes of Jesus’ teachings was that innocence, love, forgiveness, and kindness supercede all
earthly laws. If His death on the cross had been the final chapter of his life, His teachings would mean nothing, his
life would have been a lie, and the lesson of Easter would have been a very limited one. By rising from the dead, Jesus proved that there was something more powerful than the Roman
Empire (a truly radical thought at the time.) Jesus’ resurrection proved that true power lies in innocence, forgiveness, and love and that they are more powerful than all the armies and might of the most powerful earthly force. The lesson of Easter became a simple message of immeasurable power. Luckily, the crucifix is no longer used as a modern day punitive tool. Or is it? Many of us crucify ourselves everyday. Maybe not publicly on a cross, but privately in our thoughts, beliefs, and self-talk.
We crucify ourselves when we believe ourselves to be guilty, bad, foolish, scarred, scared, and a multitude of other ways we
tell ourselves we are “not enough.” As all His teachings were about love, forgiveness, innocence, and kindness, I believe Jesus would want our lesson of Easter and our association with Him to be based on the message of the resurrection and not the message of the crucifixion. It is your choice — every month, every week, every day, every minute, and even every second — whether the belief system that
guides your life has a “crucifixion” reference or a “resurrection” reference. It is important for your own personal happiness to focus on the lesson of Easter as one of resurrection and not one of crucifixion. If you are feeling guilty, pained, unhappy, sick, poor, enslaved, condemned, miserable, or ___________________ (you fill in the blank) then you can be assured your life reference at that moment is the crucifixion. Jesus said, “In my resurrection is your release.” So whenever you are feeling any negative emotion, give yourself the freedom of release by picturing yourself being filled and surrounded by love, innocence, and gentle forgiveness. Choose as your lesson of Easter a lesson in total forgiveness and you will enjoy your personal resurrection. Throw off your crown of thorns and accept the gift of lilies. Let your dark night be illumined by the new moon of forgiveness. Like the snake, shed the restraints of a skin you have outgrown and be reborn greater and free. Leave behind winter’s icy death and be the resurrected flowers of spring. The crucifixion is the symbol for pain and the resurrection is the symbol for peace. This Easter, accept the lesson of Easter to be one of resurrection and enjoy peace for yourself. To your easier life!

How to Hold a Successful Garage Sale

June 8th, 2008 by misakomatsumoto

By Vanessa Pruitt Holding a garage sale can be a profitable and fun way to make sure items are reused. Its true that garage sales are a lot of hard work, but the returns are more than worth the effort. You should be pleased at how easy the planning of a garage sale can be. Plan - Dont discard those old clothes and items just yet. In fact, dont throw anything away! You will be surprised at what people will buy. Your trash truly is another persons treasure. Check with family, friends, and neighbors to see if they would like to hold a joint sale. More sellers mean less work, and more items mean more buyers. Also, advertising will be lower with more people to share the cost. Promote - Most community newspapers have a weekly garage sale section to advertise in. Put up signs in your neighborhood a few days before the sale. Make sure the signs are large, readable, and if possible, waterproof. On the day of the sale, put a large sign and some balloons at the intersection closest to your house. Remember to take down all of your signs after the sale. Be Organized - If possible, plan to set up items in a covered area so that you can still hold the sale if the weather is bad. Have each family mark their items with a different color dot to prevent mix-ups. Make sure that every item is priced and set up in a secure place by at least the night before the sale. Price your items fairly, but not too low. Some people will want to bargain with you. Have plenty of change on hand, as you will be dealing with a lot of paper money. You will be surprised how the day of the sale can take a toll on you. Try not to let your sale go past noon, and it helps to have someone there to take turns managing the sale, so that you can each take breaks. Scottish Wedding Invitations

June 4th, 2008 by misakomatsumoto

By Grant Lindsay Scottish wedding invitations have long been popular with couples who are of Scottish heritage but their popularity is growing worldwide. There is something mystical about the Scottish highlands and Celtic symbols that attract admirers from all over the globe. Many couples are now deciding to have a Scottish theme to their wedding, even if they are not getting married in Scotland, and Scottish wedding invitations are an essential part of the special occasion. Everyone can now add that touch of Celtic tradition by sending Scottish wedding invitations. There is no set format for a Scottish wedding invitation but there are some traditional aspects that you can incorporate to add that authentic feel. The most obvious of these is Scottish tartan. Each Scottish clan, or family, has their own unique tartan design associated with them and no Scottish wedding invitation would be complete without a piece of this Scottish heritage. On a modern style of Scottish wedding invitation, you could have a family crest emblazoned on each card, with a bow made from the family tartan. However, if you really want to create a special Scottish wedding invitation then why not have scroll-style invitations, tied with your clans tartan? The choice is endless and there are numerous options to include tartan on a Scottish wedding invitation. A border designed using the tartan can add a stylish and personalized feel to your Scottish wedding invitations. Of course, tartan is not the only traditionally Scottish article that can be added to a Scottish wedding invitation. There are several other items that are associated with Scotland that would be perfect adornments for any Scottish wedding invitation. The thistle, for example, is the national flower of Scotland and is often seen emblazoned on crests and flags. The cross of St Andrew, with the white cross on a blue background, is well-known as the national flag of Scotland and can often provide the inspiration for the colours of your Scottish wedding invitation if you are undecided. It is worth researching some of the other Scottish wedding traditions before deciding on the final design and content of your Scottish wedding invitations. Any wedding invitation is intended to give the guests a feel for what type of event the big day is going to be. Perhaps you want to include some Gaelic script, or incorporate the Celtic knots into the perfect Scottish wedding invitation. You may also want to continue the style of your Scottish wedding invitation into the Order of Service for the ceremony itself, menus and place cards for the reception or even thank you cards for your guests. The internet is a great place to start if you are looking for inspiration to create your perfect Scottish wedding invitation. Ex-Girlfriends

May 31st, 2008 by misakomatsumoto

By Ken Marlborough Like every intimate-or-otherwise relationship in life, a relationship with a girlfriend can sometimes break up. Once the breakup occurs, the girlfriend is termed ex-girlfriend. Depending on the level of intimacy between the two adults, breaking up can be traumatic. To a younger mind, a breakup with a girlfriend is often seen to be more devastating than circumstances warrant, but the feeling that one has lost a dear friend is common at any age. The reasons for a relationship breakup leading to an ex-girlfriend situation vary from a sudden shifting of residence to simply growing up. For example, a boy and girl of 12 may not necessarily share the same comfort levels and interests at age 21. The reasons for a breakup vary differently in adult relations. A common reason for a brutal breakup is singular and isolated incidents concerning both or one of the two in the relationship. Sometimes the reasons depend on various factors like levels of intimacy, concepts, principles and general compatibility. There are also various degrees of separation and breakup. In some cases, people move on with their lives after a breakup and their attitude towards their ex-girlfriends is cordial and pleasant. However, what a person feels or does about his girlfriend after a breakup depends mostly on the reasons for the breakup. Ex-girlfriends are often termed to be trouble, and many existing relationships are broken due to an ex-girlfriend suddenly coming to life in a man’s world. Then there are even the on-off relationships, which hinge desperately on one phone call, e-mail, chance meeting at the mall or even party invitations by common friends. Sometimes, there can be dangerous repercussions of broken relationships on both sides. Drug and alcohol dependency, stalking, and loss of profession are commonly sparked off by a breakup. Girlfriends provides detailed information about girlfriends, finding girlfriends, gifts for girlfriends, and more. Girlfriends is affiliated with Relationships. The Lowdown on Attending an Online LPN School

May 25th, 2008 by misakomatsumoto

By Sara Reed The first step in obtaining an LPN degree is determining your options. From there, you need to choose a program that best meets your needs, including course delivery methods, cost, and personal preference. Online Learning The lowdown on attending an online LPN school is that online learning is no easier than traditional schooling. Be prepared for some hard work! The good news is that you can complete an LPN degree in a short amount of times, sometimes under a year, and certainly less than two years. This means you can enter your career before too long! However, in the meantime, organize your schedule so that you can accommodate your schooling. One benefit to learning online is that you can start your career while attending school, which often isn’t possible (or as easy) with traditional schooling options. Consider taking a job as a CNA or a similar position in health care as you work toward your degree. It’s a great way to network with professionals in the medical field. Licensure In addition to knowing about online learning, the lowdown on attending an online LPN school also includes determining if the program will count toward your state’s licensing requirements. Upon completing the program, you will sit for the national exam that will license you to work in your state. This is based on your learning program, which must be approved in order to count toward your license. Contact your state licensing board or ask your school of choice to help you in determining if the program qualifies. The LPN Upon graduation and licensure, you will be able to work in nursing under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, or RN. Before beginning your program, ask the school for information on their job placement success. This information is useful in determining how well prepared you will be upon completion of the program. To find out more about online LPN school, Sara Reed recommends Nursing Online Degree. Teens and Money: The 4 by 10% Solution

May 22nd, 2008 by misakomatsumoto

By Jeff Herring Most teens go into the work world ill-prepared to manage the money they will be earning. Even if their parents have attempted to teach them about money, they still haven’t had the wonderfully frightening experience we adults have all had with it. You know the one it’s called “getting to the end of the money before the end of the month.” Here are some tips on teaching teens about managing the money they are about to make. The 10 per cent solution Once they get a job, have them take the very first pay check and … blow it. You might have been expecting me to say save it, buy a savings bond or something else responsible. Here’s why I suggest having them spend it: They get to experience the benefits of hard work and have some fun. After the first paycheck, here’s how to handle every other paycheck for the rest of their lives. I call this the “10 by 4 solution.” With each and every pay check, take 40 percent and put it in four different places. First 10 percent - Pay your self first. Put this 40 percent in some form of savings that you do not touch until you retire. Begin this when you are young, and it’s amazing what can happen. Pay yourself first. Second 10 percent - Give it away. If you are a person of faith, you’ve probably been taught to tithe. Whether it’s tithing, or simply giving to a favorite charity, giving away 10 percent teaches your brain an interesting thing if I can give this away, there must be more than enough to go around. A nice way to feel. Third 10 percent Put this 10 percent toward getting rid of any debt that may have accumulated. Money you owe your parents or some outstanding bills. Fourth 10 percent Save it for something you really want.
For many kids, that’s a car. Or maybe a trip, a stereo or some
nice clothes. In this way they learn from the beginning to live on 60% of their income. That would be nice for us as adults too. Limit Your Liability to Protect Your Assets

May 19th, 2008 by misakomatsumoto

By J. Stephen Pope If your business runs into serious difficulty, will
it bring you down too? For example, what if one of
your employees got involved in a serious car accident
while working for you? Will the resulting lawsuit
bankrupt you personally? Here are just a few ways of protecting yourself
against catastrophic losses and lawsuits. 1. Obtain Adequate Insurance Coverage If someone slips on the sidewalk of your home and
injures himself, he could sue you for damages. Your
tenant`s or homeowner`s policy may cover you for
liability in such an event. However, what if it is your customer who falls on his
way to visiting your home-based business? You will
need an extra rider on your house insurance to cover
such incidental business use. The extra charge for
this additional coverage is well worth it. If you use a car for business use, insure it for such.
Some people think that they are being clever writing
off automobile expenses for income tax purposes but
at the same time not informing the insurance company
that the car is being used for business. This is false economy. If you ever get into an
accident, police and insurance investigators will
certainly find out that you used the vehicle for
business purposes. If you`re not paying for
business coverage, why would the insurance company
cover your claim? As well, what do you think an income tax auditor would
think of your claimed business expenses on the vehicle
when your insurance policy indicates personal coverage
only? Avoid this additional exposure to tax liability. Be sure to obtain required workers` compensation
coverage. Some have been held responsible for all the
medical and other expenses of an injured worker, as well
as fines for non-compliance to the law. These costs
can be quite substantial and even bankrupt you. Consider obtaining product liability insurance. This
applies not just for any products you manufacture but
also for products you sell that are made by others. 2. Incorporate Your Business Insurance may give you some protection against loss.
However, you may suffer business losses and lawsuits
that may not be covered by your insurance fully. What
then? An extra level of protection can be obtained by forming
your own corporation. Even though incorporating
yourself will result in extra paperwork and costs, it
could be the best insurance you ever bought. This is because the corporation is a seperate legal
entity or person. Even though you may own the
corporation, if the corporation operates the business,
it is the corporation that will be sued or suffer loss. If, for example, the corporation had severe business
losses resulting in debts that could not be repaid,
the corporation would be insolvent. You, as a
shareholder, would lose your investment in the company
but would generally not be responsible for any of its
debts. Thus, you would not have to sell your home or
other personal assets to cover the corporation`s
liabilities. On the other hand, there are cases where directors of
a corporation can be held responsible for liabilities
if they didn`t act responsibly. You can`t hide behind
a corporation, commit criminal acts and expect to
escape accountability. For more information about incorporation, visit:
http://www.yenommarketinginc.com/incorporation.html 3. Protect Yourself With Legal Agreements Properly drafted written agreements can protect you in
many ways. First of all, they can sometimes prevent
misunderstandings that can lead to legal problems.
Secondly, they may limit your exposure to lawsuits and
losses. Contracts can limit your exposure to liability by
including provisions restricting the scope of your work
and responsibility, having disputes handled by arbitration
rather than through the Courts, and specifying that the
maximum damages payable shall not exceed the amount of
the contract. A special area to watch out for is the Internet. There
are many laws that impact on websites including
matters affecting children, privacy, earnings claims,
and unsolicited e-mail (”spam”). Certain agreements
and notices on your website may help to protect you. For more information about Internet law, visit:

your exposure to liability. J. Stephen Pope, President of Pope Consulting Inc.,

Experience Canadian Fishing at a Canada Fishing Lodge

May 16th, 2008 by misakomatsumoto

By Tyson J Stevenson Have you ever watched one of those televised shows that show the fabulous fishing available in Canada, (or also known as the “Great White North) & wondered, can that really be true? Can the fish actually be so huge? Can the scenery be so spectacular? It IS true! From the eastern shores of the Maritime Provinces to the vast wooded tract of coastline on the west shores of British Columbia, Canada offers fishing that is so abundant & unspoiled, that anglers from around the globe visit each year, then subsequently return year after year. All Provinces offer fishing that is unique to them, yet all are connected by a common theme, & that’s the huge expanses of almost undiscovered lakes & rivers in the northern regions. Look at the Province of Ontario, 95% of its population reside in the lower regions that account for maybe 10% of its land mass. What’s in the other 90%? Huge, crystal clear, lakes & rivers. Thousands of them! And all full of fish. Whether one is looking for a weekend retreat that’s accessible with your family car, or the “trip of a lifetime”, a visit to a remote northern lake accessible only by float plane, this province offers it all. Compare that to the even larger expanse of the Nunavut. Here’s a Territory that sits almost entirely north of the 60th parallel, & has almost all it’s regions inaccessible by roads. There simply are none! But the fishing! Home to more I.G.F.A records than any other fresh water region in the WORLD! Did you know the N.W.T is home to the 5th largest body of fresh water on the globe? Great Bear Lake is 500 miles north of Yellowknife & the closest permanent road is some 300 miles away? Almost 12,500 square miles of crystal clear water, that’s under ice for all but, maybe 100 days a year. Water so cold, that fish grow so slowly they can be 60-80 years old. Then consider this. There is only one community on this lake. Maybe 500 people, tops! Four Fishing Lodges, over 280 miles of lake between one & the next closest! Ice free for just a couple of months, these fishing lodges can operate only 2 short months a year. Total capacity between them all is maybe 160 fishermen at a time, scattered over 12,500 square miles! Also, consider Great Slave Lake. Situated some 300 miles south of Great Bear Lake, Great Slave Lake is almost as large an expanse of water, almost as isolated, but has the convenience of a bustling frontier type city, situated right on its shores.
Yellowknife, the territory capital is also the “hub” for many of the remote northern lakes & fishing lodges, as it’s serviced by a modern airport, with frequent & daily scheduled flights connecting it with more southern cities, or as the northerners call it, “the outside” With stats like these, do you think these fishing lodges can offer a unique fishing experience? You bet, there is no other place quite like it. Why not treat yourself, & plan on a wonderful “trip of a lifetime”. Check out what Canada has to offer at Canada Fishing Lodge.
