Memorial Day
Sunday, May 25th, 2008Memorial Day is officially the start of the summer season, but we’ve been having some unseasonable weather; the week before last we had a heat wave and in the last couple of days, we’ve had rain, thunder, lightning, hail, snow and in Riverside County, a tornado. That’s just plum weird.
We’re supposed to go to a BBQ at HB tomorrow, but all parties involved don’t feel like making the trek or trying to predict the weather. Everyone’s had a rough week. At work, we got a jolt when they “released” one of the senior managers and had to re-distribute her critical accounts. This is just compounded on all the stress we’re already enduring.
Health-wise, I saw my orthopedic surgeon, who I really like, and not because he’s an artist. He does sculpture, is in quite a few galleries and has been featured O.C. magazine. I like him because he is very easy to talk to and he has a strategic health plan for me. I have an MRI scheduled for the 3rd and in the meantime, he’s referred me to a message therapist for deep heat message (he refers to the therapist as a little Tasmanian devil.
When I called to make my appointment for the MRI, the receptionist asked if I was claustrophobic. I said no, and then said well…I don’t know. I asked how long I had to be in the machine. She answered forty-five minutes. I said Forty-five minutes! Yes, I’m claustrophobic! We both started laughing.
Everyone tells me to just go to sleep. Yeah, right….
We were going to see a film last night, but there isn’t anything worth seeing. Mr. C doesn’t really want to see the new Indiana Jones film (especially after a colleague told him he didn’t care for it). I kinda want to see The Children of Huang Shi, but the money spent on a film can go in the gas tank. Know wadda mean? Instead we listened to CDs of old radio suspense programs. I did break down and buy American Eve yesterday at B&N using my reader’s advantage card and a 15% off coupon. I’ve been getting books from the library again (and re-joined Netflix too). In fact I have to return some books on Wednesday.
