Happy St. Paddy’s Day

I’m so glad it didn’t rain Friday and Saturday. Sunday we just got a few sprinkles. We saw the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre Friday night and it was fan-tab-u-lous! Saturday we went to Mission San Juan Capistrano for the return of the swallows’ festival. We were going to take the Metro Link down but decided against it in case of rain. The drive turned out to be really nice. We stopped off at Target to get bottled water and I took a quick look-see at the clothes. Milla Jovovich and a friend have a line of clothing at the store, really adorable and affordable stuff, and there was a pair of ivory linen pants that were sooo chic, but they didn’t have my size. This means I wasn’t meant to have them.

When we got to the Mission, we stayed in the church for a while then went to the festival. Actually, we paid the fee to get into the festival and spent a total of twenty-two minutes inside. This encompassed going to the restroom, watching the Juanero Indians do there dance, walking around looking at the food we couldn’t/didn’t want to eat and watching a man dressed in monk costume parade around the cutest, friendliest goat. When I mentioned to Mr. Chicago that the goat looked a little like a devil, he laughed and told me this wasn’t the place to discuss the devil; I told him church is exactly the place to discuss the devil.

We ended up going across the street to eat at Ruby’s. We were really good until the double hot fudge brownie sundae came. A brownie with globs of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge poured over it with whipped cream and a cherry. Sinfully delicious. We haven’t had any bread (other than whole grain), or any pasta, and I have reduced my salt intake for the past two weeks. I was proud of myself. I still am. We shared the sundae and figured if we were going to be bad, we were going to be bad just this once (you have to reward yourself, right?) and go down in flames together. We kinda walked it off walking back to the car, especially since we had to fight against a wind that even had Mr. C freezing.
