Teahouse of the October Moon
We went to Dr. Tea’s last night. The outdoor patio is set up with bamboo partitions so it’s very private and serene. Their teas are like a liquefied garden in a cup, they’re so fragrant. It was a little nippy outside, but with a crescent moon out and the Zen music, it made for a relaxing time. I would love to recreate this type of setting at home. To keep in that peaceful mood, we came home and I read a little more Neruda before going to bed. You can say anything you want, yes sir, but it’s the words that sing, they soar and descend…I bow to them…I love them, I cling to them, I run them down, I bite into them, I melt them down…I love words so much…The unexpected ones…The ones I wait for greedily or stalk until, suddenly, they drop…
We took in a matinee this afternoon (at un-matinee prices- every time you turn around they’re hiking up the prices) and saw Eastern Promises. Stopped off afterward at B&N and bought H.G. Wells’ Invisible Man, a Lucky magazine and an Erte 2008 Calendar. I can’t believe its calendar buying time again. I swear September went by in a flash and I keep thinking we’re in late October. I was driving the other day and saw a sign for an expo happening the 12th through the 14th, and I thought to myself that I had missed it because the dates had passed. All of this tells me I need to slow down. I guess I’m being paid back; last week I called out sick from work because I just wanted a mental health day and I didn’t want to use my vacation time (even though I’ve accrued so much that I have to start taking it). Well now I guess I’m getting sick. My throat hurts and I’m achy. I can’t call out sick tomorrow because I have a training session and I just remembered I have an eye appointment, too. Darn it. I just took two Tylenols.
